Nursing Director – Behavioral Health

Position Overview
A well-established acute care hospital in West Palm Beach is seeking an experienced Nursing Director to lead its Behavioral Health department. The hospital has a dedicated Behavioral Health unit serving children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.
The hospital has been serving the healthcare needs of Palm Beach County for more than four decades and offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including a 24-hour Emergency Department, certified stroke care, orthopedics, critical care, vascular services, inpatient diabetes care, diagnostic imaging, outpatient rehabilitation, pain management, and surgical services.
The organization is supported by approximately 600 colleagues and 900 medical staff members and is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care while continuously improving patient outcomes.
Job Summary
The Nursing Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and daily operations of the Behavioral Health department. This position will oversee departmental goals and objectives while ensuring high standards of quality, patient care, employee performance, productivity, fiscal responsibility, and patient satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, organize, direct, and supervise the delivery of quality patient care within the Behavioral Health department.
- Oversee daily departmental operations and ensure efficient use of available resources.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and support ongoing efforts to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Manage departmental productivity, fiscal performance, and operational efficiency.
- Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff while monitoring performance and accountability.
- Ensure departmental practices comply with organizational policies, hospital standards, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and their representatives, physicians, employees, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Identify opportunities to maximize productivity while maintaining quality and safety.
- Promote a positive, collaborative environment focused on exceptional patient care.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree required within 6 months of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Fingerprint/background screening required
- Minimum of 5 years of Behavioral Health Director experience, OR
- Experienced acute care manager with 5+ years of current acute care management experience may be considered
- No travel required
Compensation
$38.50 – $57.00 per hour, based on years of experience.
